Our website includes details of scores of our own publications - books, magazines and digital resources - as well as news, articles and events connected with Northamptonshire’s heritage.

Northamptonshire Record Society promotes the history of all of Northamptonshire. We are not just limited to the big places. You can delve into material about a host of different villages by using our site search box (it stands out with a red border at the top right-hand corner of every page), and we even feature information about the many deserted villages in our county.

The Signposts section of our website is helping people to discover Northamptonshire history with over 2500 links to digital resources that are available online. They include digitised books, articles, websites and indexes, some newly published and others dating back many generations. The destination for every single link is about the history of Northamptonshire or a part of it and all items are available free of charge. Churches, county histories, directories and parish registers are just a few of the many subjects covered there.

We encourage readers to get involved. Some may be inspired to share their research by writing an article or a book for publication. Part of our work as an educational charity is running workshops and lectures. Our events are usually fully booked but we are also on Facebook. Our page on Facebook has attracted many followers and helps develop and keep contact with people near and far.

As well as publishing a host of books, each year we issue Northamptonshire Past and Present to our members. This fully-illustrated magazine features a wide range of topics including the history of Northampton Town Hall, the development of the Headlands area of Kettering and local attitudes to slavery from the 17th century onwards. There are also niche subjects such as the story of a major butterfly collection assembled at Polebrook and ‘Ekins v Ekins’ - a blow-by-blow account of an early Victorian divorce.

Everyone who supports our aims is welcome to sign up as a member. There are benefits for you as well as for the world at large. We look forward to hearing from you.
